Budgeting for your first lease
Compare monthly rent, deposit, whether utilities are included, and any recurring fees. Ask about the lease length before you commit — semester leases and 12-month leases differ a lot in total cost.
What to check on a tour
Look at the room itself and the shared spaces: kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and outdoor areas. Ask who else lives there and how common areas are kept.
Getting to campus
Ask about walking or biking distance, bus routes and parking before you sign. Listings that state a transit or distance note show it on the card.
